Iranian Film Festival

Iran is known around the world for its flourishing film industry and its long history of cinema. Many critics now rank Iranian Cinema amongst the world’s most important national cinemas, with a significance that invites comparison to Italian Neorealism and similar movements in the past decades. Film festivals that honour Iranian films are held annually around the globe and along with China, Iran has been lauded as one of the best exporters of cinema since the 1990s.

Czech Republic has always played a very important role in the history of European cinema and Czech people have long been persistent lovers of film. The rich cultural background of Czech society has always provided a progressive film scene to the country, and the platforms for cultural events are very diverse. Many international film festivals are held annually throughout the country and many of them focus on national cinemas of countries like India, Spain, Germany, Japan or France.

Festival íránských filmů is the annual showcase of the most successful Iranian art-house cinema in Czech Republic and its main goal is to provide a vivid image of Iranian art for a wide range of international audience in the Czech Republic.
